Brandi,
Just thought I'd drop you a little note letting you know that
I now have the Wandering Didj. I received it from Ed Drury on
December 12, 1998 at
7:20pm.
I will write a bit more later and am currently waiting for the
Journal
which is in the possession of the US post on it's way from John
Burrows to
Ed Drury and I should have it by the end of next week.

Brandi,
Here is a picture of the passing on of the WD ...
It is 640x480 JPEG format ... I put some text on it and if you
make it
smaller you might not be able to read it clearly, so just link
to the
larger one with the thumbnail (but I'm sure I don't have to tell
you that!
BTW: nice job on the revamp of your site)
Bright Blessings,
Lawrence

Subject: Update web page - please read
Ok all you funky didj-like people (FDP) ... I've updated the
Didj List
Members Page with 112 memebers listed now, updated my own site
with several additional pages (most notable the javascript Didgi-Calc
: a tube length calculator for those of you that like to make
pvc and abs didji), and a few more things. I also finally have
pictures up of the 'sand painting' on
didjeridu's that was being discussed so long ago. The pictures
don't do the didj justice but it get's across the basic ideas.
For those of you that are interested in the where-a-bouts of
the Wandering
didj:
http://www.webberpro.com/visions/didj/images/lsdidj/wd-portland.jpg
I've got it and am looking for the other 1 or 2 people here in
Portland,
Oregon that I seem to remember were wanting it. If I don't get
any
response back in the next couple of days I will begin making
plans with
Dave DeLacy in Corvallis, Oregon to meet him and hand over the
didj, Since he is the next one on Brandi's WD list.
On a side note ... I'm sure everyone out there is familiar with
the "Intel
Inside" branding logo ... well ... the Wandering Didj has
been "Inside
Intel"!! I took it to work for a day and let a couple of
people there that
I've turned to the dark side of didjn get a chance to blow on
it for a few.
I couldn't record anything but I did take some pictures. I'll
put up the
pictures here in the next couple of days with some comentary.
Wandering Didj concensus: The first thing Ed Drury told me was
that he
needed to get rid of the WD because it was such an extrodinary
instrument
that it was getting harder and harder to give it up. I fully
agree with
him. It has excellent tone, great volume, perfect back pressure
(or at
least for me as a new CB'er) and i was able to get 3 sepearte
toots out of
it (first time ever!!).
If you look at the picture above you will notice that the didj
get's notably narrower at the top end. The wood is very thin
here and Ed made me
aware of some hair line cracks in this area. In the course of
playing I
noticed a few more. I filled the new cracks with bee's wax as
has been
discussed here many times. As a result I make it a point to only
hold the
didj below this "thin" area that contains the cracks.
The only reason I
bring this up is so that someone that is more experienced then
me at didj
repair can be aware of this and possibly make the proper repairs.
And if
you do do this, please let the list know so that we don't have
several
people working on the same thing.
All in all it's been an EXcELLENT week. I won a DVD player at
a company party, bought my first digital camera (as evidenced
by the picture URL above) and have been having an outstanding
digji-Eureka playing time with the Wandering Didj.
Bright Blessings,
lawrence

Sounds great to me ... I would hope that those that were on the
"unoffical"
list would speak up here shortly or it's going to go to Dave.
Ed, did you
get ahold of and/or have the email/phone numbers of the people
you were
thinking of??
I just want to have the next step planned out in advance. I'd
rather not
do it at the last minute then spend a week trying to track someone
down. I
know that there are ALOT of anxious people out there waiting
for the WD!!! I know because I was one of them.

Subject: Wandering Didj Update
The wandering didj has finally left me ... <pout> ...
I feel so alone!
(just kidding). Dave Delacey has taken it off my hands and next
will be
Tom Lange. So be looking for it in a week or two, Tom (acording
to Dave).
Dave here is Tom's email address tomlange1@yahoo.com and he works
here in Beaverton so it should be an easy exchange this time.
Tom, I'm not sure who is next on the list, probably somebody
down south. I know that Robbin comes up here often so maybe him??
To everyone else ... this is an incredible instrument and it's
well worth
the wait. I'm extremely pleased that I could be a part of this
project.
Bright Blessings..
